Truman’s Hump Day Song of the Week: I Wish

20140318-215623.jpg

We’re neck deep in March Madness and Truman is ecstatic, as you can see. Player of the year? Creighton’s Doug McDermott, whose jump shot and basketball savvy have observers whispering “Great White Hope” and “the next Larry Bird” every time he drains a three. The guy can move surprisingly well without the ball, create his own shot off the dribble and play just enough D to earn seven figures at the next level.

Best NBA draft prospect: I’ll go out on a limb and say it’s Kentucky’s Julius Randle, who’s already proven he’s a man among SEC boys every time he bulls his 6-foot-9, 250-pound frame into the lane.

Biggest bust: Sorry Duke fans, it’ll be Jabari Parker. I think he’s soft.

Best Cinderella story of the tournament: NC State, which will break into the Big Dance via the 12-seed play-in game and make it to the Sweet 16.

Worst disappointment of the tourney: Syracuse, which will fizzle to a second round defeat after C.J. Fair fails to show up to play for the fourth straight game.

Final Four: Florida, Michigan State, Creighton and Kentucky.

And the championship game: Spartans 82, Wildcats 76.

I saw it. Put your money down now.

Song of the week: “I Wish,” as in “Skee-Lo wishes you’d put your money down on Michigan State right damn now.” Call your bookie.

About Chairman Mao

I like fomenting socialist revolutions and purging my homeland of pseudo-intellectualism and capitalist dogma. I also like sports, dogs and food (although I wouldn't consider myself a foodie).
