Bob Thomas Dies: Longtime Hollywood Journalist Covered Oscars, RFK Shooting

Bob Thomas with Judy Garland.

Bob Thomas with Judy Garland, 1946.

In my first career, Bob Thomas occasionally popped into the AP’s busy Los Angeles bureau to check his mail (the snail kind, this was in the mid- to late-90s) and take care of business with the bosses. Bob always had a smile on his face and was a perfect gentleman, especially to us younger reporters. You would never know he had rubbed elbows with Hollywood legends and covered the biggest stories of our time. When he spoke with you, you were the most important person in the room. He was one of the kindest people I met in journalism. Rest in peace, Bob.

About Chairman Mao

I like fomenting socialist revolutions and purging my homeland of pseudo-intellectualism and capitalist dogma. I also like sports, dogs and food (although I wouldn't consider myself a foodie).
