I was listening to Katy Perry’s amalgam of sports cliches on the radio the other morning and wondered (1) who the hell wrote this awful song? and (2) how much money is she going to make from this awful song? A sampling: “I went from zee-ero, to my own hee-ero…”
Colonel Kurtz, what say you about “Roar?”
In the summer of 1976, serial killer Son of Sam shot six people to death in New York City after listening to advice from his neighbor’s dog.
I get lots of advice from Truman, mostly on music. This week’s Hump Day Songs of the Week are provided by my demonic dog, who reminded me that Katy had to lift her mixed-metaphor, parmesean-cheesy lyrics from somewhere, “probably from some better songs during the ’70s and ’80s.”
Ah yes, the golden age of music. First, Truman presents “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor (which figured so prominently in “Rocky III”). My fourth grade class sang this song during our fall musical, so Chairman can sing this for you on demand. There’s a lot of mulletry in this video.
Second, Truman presents “We Are the Champions” by Queen. I hate it when Freddie Mercury raids my closet. That bitch.
