Straighten out your Slip ‘N’ Slides, chill your Miller Lites and preposition your glow-in-the-dark condoms. For all my comrades on the East Coast, it’s time to get in the mood for Hurricane Sandy. This AP story says the Navy wisely played “Anchors Aweigh” and sent its ships away from port to ride out the storm in relatively calmer waters. State and local governments have declared states of emergency in preparation for wind and rain scheduled to hit the D.C. metro area on Monday. I hope Pepco improves on its performance from the summer derecho, when it took weeks to restore power in some areas of D.C.

I expect to lose power when the worst of the storm hits on Tuesday, so I’ll be off the grid like Bo Xilai for a while.

About Chairman Mao

I like fomenting socialist revolutions and purging my homeland of pseudo-intellectualism and capitalist dogma. I also like sports, dogs and food (although I wouldn't consider myself a foodie).

One Response to Sandy!

  1. Garrett says:

Have a good Hurricane brother! I know that means that 2 Mar Div is going to get in some good training, probably setting up in the defense as we read. I can hear some shivering Lance Corporal shout over the chopping of E-Tools, “If it’s not raining we’re not training…only eleven hundred more days to go!”
